F.A.Q

What is an SSL certificate?

An SSL certificate (Secure Socket Layer) is a file installed on a web server that encrypts the data transmitted by the web server to protect its confidentiality. An SSL certificate is created and assigned to a clearly identified entity (a legal or physical person owning the site). Encryption ensures that data transmitted over the Internet between the client computer (the site visitor) and the web server is not revealed even if intercepted.

What is an SSL certificate used for?

SSL encryption is used to secure pages and forms that display or transmit sensitive or confidential data. These can include credit card numbers, private data (e.g., medical information, personal details, passwords, etc.), or confidential business data. All this data is encrypted via SSL, reassuring visitors and increasing their trust in the website they visit.
The SSL certificate also contains unique information about the identity of the website owner. This identity is validated based on the certificate type: domain validation, organization validation, or extended validation, carried out by the certification authority when issuing the SSL certificate.

How to recognize a page secured by SSL?

To recognize an SSL-secured connection, the browser page displays a lock icon at the bottom or in the address bar. To view SSL certificate details, double-click the lock icon.
Additionally, the URL of the secured page starts with https:// instead of http://

Is it enough to buy an SSL certificate to secure my website?

After purchasing and activating your website's SSL certificate, you will need to modify your website's code to redirect all HTTP traffic to HTTPS.
